Happy New Year

2015 was a very interesting year, filled with both ups and downs.  The price of bacon soared, the political landscape changed drastically, and rumors of a Guns n Roses reunion tour abounded.  In spite of this turbulent upheaval, YYT pushed forward, providing patrons with the chance to leave their troubles behind and belt out the chorus of Wagon Wheel, sometimes several times a night.

2016 is already giving its predecessor a run for its money.  For all of you East Enders, we're booked at The Local Public House on Torbay Road (formally the Grumpy Stump which was formally Club Commodore I think) for a bunch of dates so get off your arses and drop by.  We're also going to be heading down to the Beau Bois in Marystown for a couple of nights, which is always a great time.  And of course we're back at Darnell's Pub in Paradise for a few scuffs.  We'll be playing at the Cuper's Cove Soiree again this year, it was a great time last year and will be even better this time around.

The calendar isn't filled up yet, and we have a few more dates that we will be announcing in the days to come.  On an unrelated but incredibly awesome note, our fearless leader Chris Hendry will be performing in the upcoming musical Rock of Ages at the Arts and Culture Centre from March 31 to April 3.  Tickets are on sale now, get them while they're hot.  It will be worth every penny just to watch Chris prance around the stage.  Nobody can prance like Chris can prance.  Nobody.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays and may 2016 be the rockingist ever.

We're not dead

Despite rumours to the contrary, we're still alive and kicking.  The summer was a blast, we played at the Kelligrews Soiree, the Cupers Cove Soiree, the Ride for Joanna in Marystown, and some weddings and private parties.  Can't ask for any better than that.  This weekend we're playing at the ASIST annual conference at the Wilds with our boys Molten Bronze.  When those guys show up to a party everything goes out the window.  Literally.

If you haven't seen us yet (*gasp*) or it's been a while, we'll be playing at Darnell's Pub in Paradise on Saturday, October 10 and for you east enders we'll be at the Local on Torbay Road on Friday, October 23. Mark the date on your calendars, book the sitter, and come out and get your rock on.

Guest Post: The Great Twitter Experiment

We have a special guest blogger today, none other than Klaus von Hugenstein, bass player for the immortal 80s hair metal tribute act Molten Bronze.  Klaus has been experimenting with Twitter lately and would like to share his experiences with you.

Saturday, March 28 will mark our second appearance at West Side Charlies Torbay Road with our friends YYT.  Our debut was February 28, and like every Molten show, it was out of this world.  Our audience was, as usual, amazing.  But if we don't have a mile long lineup outside the door then we feel that we can do better.

It seems that Klaus von Hugenstein is not the household name that it is in Bulgaria.  So clearly we need to take a different approach to get the word of our upcoming shows out there.  A good lady friend of mine suggested we use Twitter as a way of spreading the word.  I was skeptical but decided to give it a shot.

Twitter is a lot like our after parties.  You have a whole bunch of people packed together, but you don't really know anyone.  But that's okay, because you're there to make friends.  And do drugs.  And maybe sexy time.  So you walk up to someone and make conversation.  That person talks back to you.  You enjoy sexy time and then move on to someone else.  Of course, you will inevitably run into someone who you don't want to talk to or have sexy time with.  So of course you politely listen then excuse yourself from the conversation.  And then you have the guys who just won't shut up.  They're trying to sell you sub-par drugs and ruining an otherwise awesome time.  So you call up your security and kick them out.  No need to spoil the party for everyone.

It turns out that most people on Twitter won't let us in on their conversation.  I can't figure out why, as I am an outstanding orator and humorist.  It's like we're at the party but we have lice and no one wants to come near us.  We don't have lice.  We're not trying to sell you crap.  We're just telling funny stories and letting you know about our upcoming shows.  That's it.  So if we follow you, go ahead, follow us back.  If you get tired of the conversation, that's cool, but don't be afraid to give us a chance.

You can follow Molten Bronze on Twitter @MoltenBronze.

West Side Charlies gig update

The rumours are true.  Molten Bronze, the world's greatest 80s hair metal tribute act, will be making a guest appearance at West Side Charlies Torbay Road on Saturday, February 28.  So to get you in the mood, YYT will be opening the night with a set chock full of 80s tunes.  Get that hair up, break out the slouch socks, and find a pair of high waisted jeans.  We're going to party like it's 1989.  YYT will be hitting the stage at 10:30, and Molten Bronze will be following at midnight.  After that it's anyone's guess.  Feel free to RSVP to our Facebook event page.  See you there.

February Gig Dates

This month you have multiple opportunities to see your favourite Brown Eyed Girl cover band in action.  Starting on Saturday, Feb 7, we'll be playing at the Feast of Cowan, a fundraiser for Cowan Heights Elementary.  Then on Friday, Feb 13 we're back at Darnell's Pub for another great night of music, dancing and yelling.  And to end the month, we're making our debut appearance on Saturday, Feb 28 at West Side Charlies on Torbay Road.  Who says February is the worst month ever?  Well, I do, but at least we can be miserable together.  See you on the road.

ASIST Gig Report

What an awesome night at the ASIST gig at the Wilds last night.  We played a great set to a great group of people, and none other than Molten Bronze took the stage for the second set.  Those guys are nuts.  Gunnar mentioned something about going on tour, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
